Kendal Town are continuing to build up an old boys network under new manager Jimmy Marshall.
As he plans for North West Counties football next season Marshall has recruited four former Kendal players.
Latest to join the Marshall revolution is forward Tom Kilifin, 29. who actually played a few games for him last season at Milnthorpe Corinthians.
A talented player, Kilifin has had three spells with Lancaster, two at Kendal now and has also played for Workington and Northwich Victoria.
At Workington, in particular, he was remembered as a talented player who shone in pre-season but work commitments interfered with his progress once the season started.
Kilifin joins three other former Kendal players in Rob Wilson, Steve Yawson and Ben Hughes who have returned to Parkside Road for the 2022/23 season.
Kendal, who were relegated from NPL West after finishing next-to-bottom last season have fielded relatively inexperienced sides over the last two seasons.
Marshall will clearly provide some experience in the players he is recruiting and is determined to have a crack at a quick return to their previous level.
After the signing Kilifin said: “I’m really happy to be back. I’ve always enjoyed coming up here. With Rob signing, and after speaking with Jimmy, I am confident we can have a good season as a team and also for me personally. I’m looking forward to getting going.”
Marshall added: “Tom is another fantastic signing. He’s a goal-scorer first and foremost, but he can come short, help build attacks, and can run in behind and stretch defences.
“He’s also a great lad that will help create the type of atmosphere we want in the dressing room.”
CN Plastering Services have agreed to sponsor Kilifin for the coming season.
