Bolton Wanderers are trying to land Manchester City’s Cumbrian goalkeeper James Trafford on loan next season.
City are yet to make their mind up on where the newly-capped England Under-21 international will be playing his football next season.
Trafford has already been linked with a move to Anderlecht in Belgium this summer where former City skipper and club legend Vincent Kompany is manager. But Kompany has been linked to the vacant Burnley job which might stall any move for Trafford.
Safe to assume then after several days on international duty the Greysouthen farmer’s son will be hoping his immediate playing future is decided soon.
Trafford went to Bolton on loan for the second half of last season and played 21 games for the League One club.
With Trafford possibly moving back to Bolton there was some speculation that Wanderers’ custodian Joel Dixon, the man he replaced last season, could be set for a return to Barrow.
His former Barrow boss Ian Evatt took him to Bolton after playing 189 times for the Holker Street club.
Coming through the youth set-up at Sunderland, Dixon played 12 times on loan with Workington and also had loan spells at Boston, Hartlepool and Gateshead before joining Barrow in 2015
There has been much press speculation that Dixon could be heading back to Barrow but sources close to the club suggest that won’t be the case.
