Cleator Moor Celtic come out on top in West Cumbrian Veterans League

Cleator Moor Celtic came out on top in the West Cumbria Veterans League when they beat close rivals St. Benedict’s 5-1.

The top of the table clash saw Ryan Taylor score for Benny’s but Celtic powered home with goals from Gary George, Darren Johnston, Gareth Evans, Wayne Grove and Joe Doyle.

The Veterans League continues to expand and has ten teams contesting the West Division with Celtic still 100% having won all seven games so far.

Benny’s drop to third with Salterbeck moving second in the table after their 8-1 home win over Moor Row. They trail Celtic by two points but have played a game more.

Other West Division scores: Thornhill 0, Seaton 4; Westfield 3, Maryport Athletic 4; Cockermouth 5, Flimby Social 1.

The North and East Division has 11 teams Taking part and Carlisle City lead the way by a point from Creighton Rangers but Harraby Catholic are four points behind the leaders with two games in hand.

Recent results have been: Carlisle City 0, Silloth 0; Creighton Rangers 4, Unisun Athletic 1; Eden Academicals 4, AFC Carlisle 1; Harraby Catholic 5, Carlisle City Navy 0; QZone 2, Beehive 1.
