Haverigg continued their bright start to the Cumbria League’s T20 competition by scoring a second victory last night.
After beating Lindal Moor last week to open the tournament they followed up by romping to a nine wicket win at Dalton.
The home side had elected to bat and after losing opener Joe Braund-Smith early they responded well enough to reach 125-7.
Tony Butler (34), skipper Dan Sharp (22) and Rob Jones (20) provided important contributions along the way.
Bradley Lumb (2-3 off one over) was the most successful Haverigg bowler.
Haverigg took until the first ball of the final over to reach their target but with so many wickets in hand were always in the box seat.
The only casualty was professional Sachin Jayawardena (42) after he and skipper Drew Postlethwaite (56no) had put on 75 for the first wicket.
Cup holders Furness started the defence of the Robin Dunn Memorial Trophy by beating Millom by 29 runs.
Furness didn’t hang about as they reached 182-5 in their 20 overs after they won the toss and elected to bat.
Although Sam Dutton went for one, the following batsmen all made excellent short-burst contributions.
Joe Amison (43), Liam Curwen (38), Ryan Griffiths (35). Wyll Stanway (26) and Lewis Gribbin (26no) helped Furness reach 182-5.
Robbie Wilson bowled well for Millom taking 3-28 from his four overs.
Millom professional Primosh Perera (75no) opened and played his part, hitting ten fours and facing only 57 deliveries.
But the only substantial support came from Daniel Mackie (34) and Millom could only manage 153-6 in reply.
Stanway took 3-31 from his four overs for Furness.
There’s a game in the west section tonight when Workington entertain Whitehaven.
