Whitehaven put together back-to-back wins at Odsal for the first time with a hard-fought 12-4 victory.
They had scored their first win at Bradford for over 50 years last season and to follow-up with a repeat success was a terrific effort.
Haven have suffered this year through injuries and inconsistent performances – during a game and not just from week to week.
Well this was one occasion when they got it right from the first whistle to the last hooter.
Tom Walker was almost over in the seventh minute but was held up over the line, but that sparked a spell of Bradford pressure.
Then Whitehaven defence held up well though and when they finally got some good possession they made it pay with the first try from Nikau Williams who converted himself on 26 minutes.
Bradford came back well and thought they had scored through George Flanagan but it was disallowed.
Whitehaven did get over on 34 minutes, though, when then ball ricocheted from a kick through and Will Evans pounced for an unconverted try and a 10-0 lead.
The visitors were almost over for a third try at the start of the second half but it was Bradford who were awarded their first when Kieran Gill scrambled over in the corner on 44 minutes.
Naturally that lifted the Bulls and they had a long period of possession with Whitehaven defending manfully to keep them out.
Gradually Haven did make a few inroads but by now defences were firmly on top.
Geronimo Doyle hit a post with a drop goal attempt and Curtis Davies was almost in for a try.
The only further points came from the boot of Williams as he booted a penalty a minute from the end.
