A special advice and ideas event is being staged to help those in rural areas who are worried about heating bills and staying warm this winter.

The Home Energy Expo, organised by the Northern Fells Group charity, will include a range of experts to explain how to keep your home cosy, manage your bills and offer guidance on benefits.

Experts from will be on hand to help visitors at Mungrisdale Village Hall between 11 and 2pm on September 7.

Among those taking part in the free event will be representatives from AgeUK and Cold to Cosy Homes from Cumbria Action for Sustainability, Alzheimer’s
Society, Cumbria Community Catalysts and DWP.

NFG benefits expert Di Bowes and NFG/Dementia Awareness Advisor Janet Wilkinson will also be on hand to provide detailed help.

The NFG serves 3,700 residents spread over 200 square miles of rural and often remote areas of the north of the county. The charity, backed by Prince Charles, has played a vital role over the past 18 months in maintaining community life in a sparsely populated region of the county where many live in isolated areas.

NFG chief operating officer Andrea Sales said: “We are facing difficult times as the cost of living increases, rural communities like ours have the additional
worry of living off grid.”

All are welcome to the event and there will be free refreshments.
