After the disappointment of the Bank Holiday Whitehaven Classic there was a sense of relief at the HTA meeting held at Ennerdale Show.
Improved numbers of competing hounds, completed trails and blessed with good weather, it was an enjoyable day’s trailing.
The first race was the senior trail which was won by Barry Laidler and Caroline Clough’s Winterfell which won nicely from Denis Peare and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess.
It won them the Bushby Memorial Trophy and a cheque for £100 which was presented by members of the Bushby family.
The win takes Winterfell to joint third place in the senior table with leader Duchess Ava only managing fourth place in the Ennerdale trail.
The puppy race went to Huntsman’s Rally who is now being trained by Glenis and Raymond Farren which shows a change in kennel can make a difference on the field. Huntsman’s Rally beat the in-form Foxparke Beep Beep who was finishing second for the 11th time.
In the open maiden race the Napiers Foxparke kennel managed to bag three of the six tickets with Foxparke Parma Violet in first place and Foxparke Who Gives A Toss and Foxparke Shackalackaboomboom also in the six.
In the open restricted trail it was Lee Wall’s Denton Balboa who won following a spell off with injuries. He beat home the senior maiden winner from the week-end Breton owned by Julie Birkinshaw.
All in all a better day’s trailing and nice weather to go with it.
