Penrith manager Darren Edmondson took a number of positives from his side’s 2-0 defeat at home to Ashington.
The visitors have spent big, lie fourth in the table and are still unbeaten after seven First Division games with matches in hand of the teams above them.
Edmondson said: “They are a good side who have spent a bit of money but I thought we dealt with them well for the most part.
“If I had a complaint it was we didn’t ruffle their feathers enough in the first half, and didn’t quite have the energy we had shown in the previous two games.
“A minute before half-time we switched off and they took the lead when we could have been going in all square.
“The first 20 minutes of the second half we were definitely the better side but we got caught with a ball over the top and although Aaron (Taylor) made a good save they knocked in the rebound.
“Overall it was a good effort, though, and we can get two good training sessions into them before we play Guisborough at home on Saturday.”
Luke Salmon had given Ashington the lead on 44 minutes and Adam Johnson popped in the second 11 minutes into the second-half.
Saturday’s opponents Guisborough lost at Kendal Town on Saturday in the FA Vase and currently sit mid-table with five wins, two draws and two defeats.
