St Benedict’s enjoyed their best performance of the season when they beat Workington 50-14 in Counties 1 Cumbria.
The Zebras, bottom of the League, are in the process of rebuilding and as so often happens in these sort of situations, have little or no luck.
They were forced to start the game with 14 men and within two minutes ahead one of their players taken to hospital.
St Benedict’s, however, were intent on producing a powerful display and they won comfortably in the end despite the brave efforts of the depleted Zebras who kept going to the end.
Martin O’Neil was the match star for St Benedict’s as the stand-off helped himself to a hat-trick of tries.
Callum McGrady, Aidan Pirie, Alex Wilson and Steve Caulfield also crossed for tries with O’Neil kicking a penalty and six conversions.
Chris Stringer scored the Workington try while man of the match Sam Robinson added three penalties.

Workington have lost all seven matches so far and have only two points while St Benedict’s have won four out of seven and sit joint fifth in the table.
