The existing Story Homes development, Fellside Manor, in Endmoor, Kendal.

Plans for 340 new homes in Kendal have been revealed.

Story Homes is bringing forward plans for a new housing development on land off Burton Road in Kendal. A public consultations has been launched inviting feedback on the development before a planning application is submitted to South Lakeland District Council.

The plans include a variety of one to five-bedroom homes, with around 35 per cent of the properties allocated as affordable homes for those eligible and with a connection to the local area.

A small number of commercial units will also be set up on the site, which aim to create new jobs and provide services for the existing community.

Burton Road masterplan

John Jackson, Head of Strategic Land & Planning at Story Homes, said: “We are proud to bring forward plans for this proposed development in Kendal, which will be carefully considered and designed following feedback received during the pre-application consultation.”

Story Homes has also submitted a request for an Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Opinion from South Lakeland District Council. This will determine considerations for environmental impact and result in high-level information being available on the South Lakeland District Council website in due course.

Residents can find out more about the plans and provide feedback on the proposals in various ways, including:

·         Visiting the consultation website to view the plans and complete a feedback form at: burtonroadconsultation.co.uk

·         Attending a public exhibition on Wednesday 9 November from 3pm to 7pm, at Kendal Town Hall, Highgate, Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 4DL

·         Calling the Community Information Line, which is open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm on 0333 358 0502

·         Emailing comments and questions to burtonroadconsultation@havingyoursay.co.uk

Hard copies of consultation materials can be requested by calling the community information line. The deadline for comments on the plans is Monday 21 November.
