The world’s greatest living explorer is set to appear at Kendal Mountain Festival this month.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE will be sharing stories from his exploits and adventures live on stage at the festival, telling untold tales of some of the world’s most extraordinary feats of exploration.
For over 40 years, Sir Ranulph has broken countless world records and led over 20 ground breaking expeditions including being the first person to visit both north and south poles by surface means, as well as later becoming the first to cross Antarctica completely on foot.
He also found the Lost City of Ubar in the Arabian Sands and became the first person ever to summit Everest and cross both polar ice caps.
In 1984, he was described as the world’s greatest living explorer by The Guinness Book of World Records.
Sir Ranulph will talk the audience through his schoolyears to his time in the military and beyond. He will also reveal for the first time his own personal heroes and the lessons he learnt from them which have informed his profession.
Accompanied by never-before-seen images and home videos, Sir Ranulph will be introduced and presented on stage by Kenton Cool, the mountaineer who has summited Everest 16 times and guided Sir Ranulph up the Eiger North Face.
Sir Ranulph will appear at the festival on Friday 18 November. Tickets cost £20.
