Former Workington Town coach Leon Pryce has returned to rugby league after taking on the assistant coaching role with Featherstone Rovers.
In doing so he will be reforming a famous half-back partnership with Sean Long who had been appointed head coach.
The two of them won the treble at St Helens during the 2006 season and they will now form the main part of Featherstone’s coaching staff.
Long was recently confirmed as the new head coach at Rovers next season, succeeding Brian McDermott.
The 41-year-old was Workington coach between 2018 and 2019, but has kept in the rugby league spotlight by working as a television pundit.
Pryce said: “The opportunity to get back into a rugby environment and work alongside Sean Long was one that I could not turn down.
“I am excited to bring my experience from being a player that has played at various different clubs and as a coach from my time with Workington.
“I am really looking forward to working with a good group of players and a good club that is definitely pushing for promotion into Super League.
“The Championship is a lot tougher division than what people realise, There are a lot of teams that are more than capable of turning each other over, so it will be difficult but with the right preparation we will be able to give it our best shot.”
He has primarily been appearing on Channel 4’s rugby league coverage. But he will now return to active rugby league with Featherstone, who are looking to finally end their wait to reach Super League after several near-misses.
