Having been very wet overnight, conditions had improved and there was blue sky and sunshine as hundreds of competitors took part in the 70th Brampton to Carlisle 10-mile road race.
Officially the oldest 10-mile road race in the country, Steve Cram was a winner in the 1980s.
The event started at a new time of 10am – it was previously 11.30am – and competitors made their way from William Howard School in Brampton to
the finish at Eden Bridges in Carlisle.
