Penrith’s attractive home game with current Northern League Division One leaders Bishop Auckland fell victim to the weather yesterday.
The Frenchfield pitch has taken a lot of rain in recent weeks and was not fit to stage the game.
They did play a Fred Conway County Cup game in mid-week in which they beat the County League side Gosforth 3-1.
Alfie Brunskill scored either side of half-time and Aaran Roberts netted on 75 minutes before Robbie Bagley pulled one back for the villagers who had Byron Todd sent off after 65 minutes.
That leaves only one game left to play in the second round, Carlisle United against Bransty Rangers which is scheduled for this coming Wednesday.
As for Penrith they hope to return to action on Saturday when they do have another home game scheduled against Crook Town.
Chairman Billy Williams said: “It was disappointing to have to call another game off, especially as it was an attractive fixture with the League leaders.
“But the pitch has taken a hammering in recent weeks and we were lucky to get the Cup-tie on in mid-week.
“I’m happy with the way things are going though and Darren (Edmondson) is doing a very good job for us.”
