Workington’s rivals for the NPL West title Macclesfield FC have parted company with their manager for the second time this season.
After yesterday’s 4-0 home win over Ramsbottom the club confirmed that manager David McNabb and assistant manager Tim Lees had stepped down from their roles.
A club statement said: “Both David and Tim have taken this difficult decision in the best interests of the Football Club, as their work demands have meant that they no longer feel that they can devote the necessary time to our promotion push.
“David and Tim will be incredibly hard to replace and we would like to thank them for all their efforts most sincerely.
“Both individuals are fantastic people and their work ethic is second to none.
They will be sorely missed by us all and we wish them both every success in the future.”
They were brought in at the end of October and their first game in charge was against the Reds when they won 4-1 – although the score-line in no way represented the way the game had played out.
They had been brought in after leading Warrington Rylands to the NPL West title last season when they pipped the Reds to automatic promotion – and Workington were knocked out in the play-off semi-final by Marine.
McNabb had been brought in by the Silkmen after leaving Rylands earlier in the season and he replaced Danny Whitaker, a popular figure at the club.
