NPL West leaders Macclesfield Town have appointed Neil Danns as their interim head coach.
Danns will be assisted by Mark Duffy while the Silkmen search for a long-term successor to outgoing boss Dave McNabb.
McNabb left the club after their 4-0 victory over Ramsbottom United, less than two months after succeeding former manager Danny Whitaker.
Last weekend’s victory saw them move six points clear of Leek Town at the top of the Pitching In NPL West Division with Workington Reds a further point away in third, but with a game in hand of the leaders.
Danns had previously joined Macclesfield on a non-contract basis in September 2021.
He boasts a wealth of Football League experience after starting with Blackburn Rovers in 2000 and topped 100 appearances for both Crystal Palace and Bolton with another 77 for Bury. Now aged 40 he has also represented Guyana at international level on 23 occasions.
Completing the interim coaching team will be existing first team mentor Sammy McIlroy and Peter Band.
Danns is set to take charge for the first time on Saturday as the Silkmen visit Clitheroe, who currently sit fifth in the final play-off place.
