Drivers warned as temperatures plummet in Cumbria

Drivers have been warned to take it easy on the roads this morning as temperatures continue to plummet in Cumbria.

Cold weather has affected many areas and Cumbria police is asking people to be aware of black ice on many of the county’s roads.

A spokesman said: “Ensure you drive to the road and weather conditions. Be prepared and drive to the weather conditions.”

Wiggonby C of E School is closed today. A county council spokesman said: “All roads into Wiggonby are extremely dangerous and so, in the interest of safety, school will be closed today.”

It is due to reopen tomorrow, January 18.

We’ll be keeping you updated throughout the day and as snow is affecting much of the county, we’d love to know what it is like in your neighbourhood.
