Work started this week to lay the top surface of the track at the Northside home of the Workington Comets.
Fans still have to wait three months to see the relaunch of the Comets in a National Development League clash with Edinburgh.
But work continues apace at Northside to have everything in top condition for the riders on the track, and for the supporters who will be watching.
The heavy machinery for grading the shale, some of which dates from the original Derwent Park track, was in action preparing to provide the top surface at Northside.
Promoter Andrew Bail was hard at work at the controls of that heavy machinery while former Workington and Glasgow star Steve Lawson laid and graded the top surface of shale.
Long-time Comets track photographer Dave Payne was there to take a few shots of the work that was going on and how the track was starting to look.
