Windscale’s recent good away record suffered another blemish when they went down 4-0 after travelling to Wearside League high fliers Darlington Town.
The Atoms were well in the game for the first 30 minutes not giving the hosts many opportunities.
Lewis Jolly, who was lively up front all game, almost put Windscale in front on the 20 minute mark but the Darlington custodian Cameron Hall hung on to his shot.
The hosts took the lead in the 33rd minute. Ben Wood, chasing a long ball out of defence, found himself one on one with Atoms keeper Andrew Richardson and slotted the ball home for the only goal of the first-half.
The hosts increased their lead in the 51st minute when Wood added his, and Darlington’s, second.
The outcome was virtually settled in the 75th minute. Connor Woodford latched onto a ball played into the penalty area by Wood and applied the finish.
The scoring was completed in the 82nd minute. Woodford was brought down in the box and Jim Wilson tucked the ball beyond Richardson from the spot.
It was a disappointing result on the road against the side who will be the Atoms opponents in the forthcoming Alan Hood Charity Cup Final.
They will lick their wounds and hopefully get back on track next week when they host Farringdon Detached at the Falcon with a 2pm kick-off.
