Carlisle United had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate in a cagey promotion battle at Brunton Park against Stevenage.
The point actually cost the Blues their position in the automatic promotion places and it denied them a fifth win in a row.
The game had attracted over 8,000 – Carlisle’s third best crowd of the season – but in truth it never seriously took off and in many ways both teams were happy to settle for the draw.
The most damaging stat was that two teams pushing for promotion who were the highest scorers in the Division could manage only one shot on target between them.
That came from Joe Garner in the first-half and although he actually found the net it was ruled out for offside.
Garner was closest to a goal for United in the second-half but put his header over the top while the best efforts for Stevenage came from Alex Gilbey with two shots which weren’t far wide.
Carlisle now have a massive game on Tuesday at Bradford City who are also in the play-off positions but five points behind the Cumbrians.
