Wath Brow A and Maryport will contest the final of the EB Lamb Amateur Cup in the Cumberland Amateur Rugby League.
For while Maryport were going through unopposed, Wath Brow were beating Lowca 28-4 in the only semi-final played.
Unfortunately Ellenborough A couldn’t raise a team for their semi-final derby clash against Maryport.
Both semi-finals had originally been postponed last week because of waterlogged pitches.
The Hornets second team had got off to a strong start with Jamie Devine crashing over for an unconverted try in the eighth minute.
It was pretty tight after that with Lowca battling well and the score stayed at 4-0 until an eight minute spell just before half-time when the Hornets scored two converted tries to lead 16-0 at the break.
Daley Stables went over on 32 minutes and almost right on the half-time whistle Devine got in for his second try. Jenson Olstrum converted both.
Lowca desperately needed to score to stay in the contest at the start of the second-half but they couldn’t manage it.
Indeed Wath Brow increased their lead on 51 minutes when Peter Caddy scored a try which Olstrum improved.
Hope was fading for Lowca and Jack Meagan added the Hornets’ fifth try six minutes from time, with Olstrum again converting.
There was, at least, the consolation of a try for a battling Lowca side in the final minute when Ashton Briscoe crossed the Wath Brow line.
Man of the Match for Wath Brow was stand-off Devan Sharp while centre Luke Stockton picked up the award for Lowca.
The date and venue for the final still has to be confirmed
