Entries might have been down at Oulton but the HTA meeting still provided some competitive racing.
Most of the hounds who have started the season in good form were involved.
In the seniors Darren McMaster, Sadie Wilson and Phil Graham’s Silver Streak came onto the finish with the lead and maintained that advantage from Tony, Marlene, Connor and Carter Irving’s Rex the Rocket.
Although Rex the Rocket was finishing well he just couldn’t make up the ground on Silver Streak.
The puppy trail had fewer numbers than in previous Oulton races but it was still a good competitive affair with the key hounds taking part.
As they came onto the finish any one of four had a chance of taking the honours. Then coming up the hill three of them pulled away and at the line there was only a length between all three.
Rodney Raider just got up to beat littermates Embrace and Silver Dream.
Rodney Raider is owned by Nicola McMaster and David Todd, and is running well.
Embrace is owned by Laura Steele, Andrew and Joel Bulman and Ian Rumney, and had to avoid making the same mistake that it made on Sunday at the wood which cost her a ticket. This time she ran on well and was just pipped at the post.
The open restricted race had a better turnout with 21 hounds and it was won by Donna and Shaun Hetherington’s Tesla who scored nicely from Christopher Henderson’s Shine On who seems to have improved on last season’s performances.
That second place takes her to the top of the Open Restricted points table with 10, just in front of Tesla (9).

The action switches back to the fells from fields and dykes when Low Place stages a four-race card on Saturday.
