Two Cumbrian Taekwon-Do teams have scooped gold and bronze medals at a UK championship.
UKTC Dumfries and Galloway and Carlisle Taekwon-Do club came first overall while Lakeside Warriors – who are part of Lynda and Luke Webster’s UKTC Taekwon-Do marital arts school – came third out of 10 other teams competing from across the UK.
The English championship was held by the United Kingdom Taekwon-Do Council at Penrith Leisure Centre on April 23.
Categories for competitors to enter included patterns, sparring and special technique (flying high kick).
Competitors from England, Wales and Scotland from ages five to 17 from white belt and above were in attendance alongside spectators from across the country.
The money raised from those paying to enter the championship has been put towards UKTC members representing the UK national teams.
Instructor Luke of Lakeside Warriors said: “We are exceptionally proud of each and every student who came to take part in this championship event, it takes courage to step into the ring and compete against other Taekwon-Do practitioners from around the country.

“This is also the very first championship event for some of these students and they all performed brilliantly. Proud does not even begin to describe how we feel about all of these fantastic students.
“Within martial arts, your success is down entirely you to your own hard work, we are one big family, but every student has themselves to thank for their excellent efforts.“
