Members of a Maryport cheerleading group have been crowned world champions at a major international competition.
Cheer Force Knights travelled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the All Star World Championships where they scooped gold and silver medals – beating over 80 other teams from across the world.
The winning teams, Lady Supremacy and Miss Reign, were made up of members from the ages of 11 to 16.
Lady Supremacy competed in the XSmall Junior Level 2 and placed first over 33 other teams, coming away with a nearly perfect score.
Members of Miss Reign were also crowned silver champions in the XSmall International U17 Level 2, beating several other teams to the title.
Club director and head coach Olivia Scholey, 23, said: “We went to Florida to experience how the Americans do it all and it was an amazing feeling to be up there with the biggest teams in the world, it was just fantastic.
“The kids are all really excited and chuffed, non of us went in with any expectations and we’re just so proud of them all.”

Both teams are only on their second competition season and have already bagged several top awards at events including JamFestUK and the British Cheerleading Association competition.
Upon their arrival home from Florida on Tuesday May 9, Mayport residents and younger and older club members lined the streets and waited at the team’s training gym to clap and cheer for the girls.
The cheering crowds had purple and pink balloons, welcome home and world champion signs to greet the youngsters with.
Olivia said: “Coming home we had absolutely no idea it was going to happen but It was really lovely to see members of the public and friends clapping and welcoming the girls home and coming to see them, especially after 22 hours of travelling home!”
Olivia started cheerleading when she was a child and competed with Blue Star, another successful Maryport based cheerleading group.
She formed the team in 2020, where youngsters started out learning routines on zoom calls due to the pandemic and the club has continued to move from strength to strength since.
Olivia added that Cheer Force Knights is an inclusive club, open to everyone from ages three up – with people in their 50s also part of the club.
