Distington came out on top 32-12 in the big game against Wath Brow A in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL.
Afterwards Distington coach Aiden Worthington said: “That was the toughest game we’ve had so far and Wath Brow have some very good young players.”
Although generally played in the right spirit there were four yellow cards and two red ones from referee Trevor Dryden.
Although Scott George gave Distington a third minute lead with an unconverted try, Wath Brow went in front after 13 minutes.
Brad White scored a try which was converted by Jenson Olstrum, although the lead lasted just four minutes.
Gavin Martin got over for a Distington try, converted by Steven Clarke and before half-time Scott Rooke crossed to give the home side a 14-6 interval lead.

In the second half, midst a flurry of cards, Distington pulled away with three more tries from Martin to take his tally to four and earn him the man of the match award. All were unconverted although Clarke did improve a 60th minute try from Steve Conway.
The game had gone by the time Phil Coyles scored a try in the 77th minute and Olstrum added the conversion. Peter Caddy picked-up the man of the match nomination for Hornets A.

There was a good, high-scoring game at Glasson where the Rangers came out on top 48-36 against Lowca after the second-half was shared 24-24.
The home side got off to a blistering start and within 28 minutes had established a 24-0 lead with tries from Greg Rowley, Connor Wilson, Scott Faulkner and Matt Burns, all converted by Luke Johnson.
But in the last 10 minutes of the half Lowca got themselves back into contention with tries from Ashton Briscoe and Luke Stockton. The first was converted by Jamie Scott and the second by Briscoe.
In an even second half the scoring virtually came turn and turn about with Jonathan Cameron going over for Glasson three minutes after the break. Johnson converted,

Then Lowca responded with a try by Stockton, converted by Scott and almost immediately scored again through Callan McGrady with Scott popping over the conversion and at 30-24 the game was on a knife edge.
On 56 minutes Wilson scored his second try for Glasson, converted by Johnson which was followed ten minutes later by Stockton completing his hat-trick for Lowca and Scott’s conversion made it a six point gap again.
Two tries in the space of three minutes, however, sealed the win for Glasson. On 72 minutes Rowley scored his second and Wilson quickly followed-up with his hat-trick try. Johnson’s two conversions gave him eight kicks out of eight.
Briscoe got over again for a final Lowca try three minutes from time and Scott kicked his fifth goal.
Maryport were convincing 42-6 winners against Egremont A as they built on a 22-0 half-time lead.
Head coacgh Mark Foster has been thinking of the future, blooding his young players throughout the season so far. Two of them in the squad against Egremont are members of this season’s Under-16’s squad.
“Half of the squad over the last few weeks have been 20-years-old or under and against Egremont there were 11 of them,” he said.
Maryport got off to a flier with try on two minutes from Harrison Heywood which was converted by Josh Patterson who finished the game with five successful kicks.
After 12 minutes Maryport had doubled their lead with a try from Atlee Skillen, converted by Patterson.
It was Patterson who scored the next try on 16 minutes while Skillen notched his second just before the half hour.
Eight minutes into the second-half Luke Baker scored the fifth Maryport try, followed soon after by one from Liam Anderson.
Egremont’s only points in the game came after 58 minutes when Cian Sharp went over for a try converted by Kaiden Block.
Maryport continued to force the pace, however, up to the final whistle adding two further tries from Scott Atherton and Patterson.
