Cumberland Council has recently completed highway maintenance works on a 2.5-mile stretch of road near Workington.
The council spent £366,000 on the pothole patching and resurfacing work on the C2054 road between Branthwaite and Kidburn Gill, near Asby.
Contractors replaced worn-out sections of road with a new surface.
The project was completed in 10 days to help keep the necessary road closures and any delays to a minimum.
Councillor Denise Rollo, Cumberland Council’s executive portfolio holder for sustainable, resilient and connected places, said: “This project has seen the replacement of extensive, damaged sections of highway along this popular route, improving the comfort and safety of drivers on our roads.
“Our highways team installed the new, hard-wearing surface in only a week-and-a-half with the aim of reducing disruption for local residents and businesses, who we thank for their patience and understanding during the work.”
