A proposal for 16 new homes in Workington has been submitted to Cumberland Council.
Thomas Milburn Property Ltd wants to build the new estate on land to the north east of St Andrew’s Road in Stainburn.
The company wants to build 13 detached homes and three terraced properties, which would be classed as affordable housing.
In its application, the firm says the 1.1 hectare site has been unused for decades in a formal sense – although it acknowledges it is used by the local community for recreation.
It is next to a large informal space alongside Briery beck and Briery Acres is to the north of the site.
Traffic would access the site by St Andrew’s Road.
A previous application was submitted for the site in 2018 but attracted several objections from the community.
