A £500 reward has been offered for the safe return of a Workington lizard.
Echo, a Tegu, has now been missing for over seven days and her owners say despite a massive search, she has not been found.
Echo belongs to Siobhan Harkness, who runs Pet Encounter Cumbria, and the lizard dug her way out of her cage in her Moorclose garden last Saturday.
There had been no confirmed sightings, despite the huge search, but earlier today, Siobhan said two people believe they may have spotted her – one said they though they saw her crossing the road on Monday near Asda at Dunmail Park and a cyclist thought they had seen her at Siddick Ponds today.
Siobhan said: ” Sadly, we have started to consider that someone might have her. Both sightings have described her and its the best lead we have had. If she is in that area then it’s most likely she has been picked up and dropped down there. Fingers crossed.
“If you are in the area please keep your eyes peeled. If she is there she will likely be basking near the water.
“We just want her back home and not knowing is heartbreaking for the family.”
An initial reward of £250 was offered for Echo’s return but now Walkmill Motors has donated another £250 to go towards the reward money
Among those searching for Echo were volunteers from West Cumbria Search and Rescue. Siobhan said people had asked if they could donate to Pet Encounter Cumbria, but she said: “We would appreciate it a lot more if you could donate to West Cumbria Search and Rescue.
“These guys are a non-profit organisation, who volunteer their time and money to search and rescue humans and animals alike.”
If you spot Echo, do not attempt to pick her up but call 07397548562.
