Ahead of their game with Widnes Vikings tomorrow Whitehaven are hosting a volunteer day at the LEL Arena.
The club says it is specifically a day for all those who they can help out the club in a number of different areas.
The boardroom invitation says: “We welcome all those who feel they can help the club in whatever capacity is comfortable for them.”
Certainly they will be able to reflect on the team’s best performance of the season last Sunday when they won well at Sheffield Eagles, as they bid to follow up against the Vikings.
Unsurprisingly, with no injury concerns, coach Jonty Gorley has named an unchanged squad to take on Widnes.
Gorley said: “Beforehand nobody gave us a chance so there was no pressure on the lads other than to give 100 per cent and a good performance – and they certainly did that.
“As a coaching team we believe in the players and I think that has got through to them. This is what happens when we do what we ask them to do and stick together.”
His squad is: Dave Eccleston, Chris Taylor, Curtis Teare, Karl Dixon, Alex Bishop, Tom Walker Connor Holliday, Lachlan Lanskey, Dion Aiye, Jamie Doran, James Newton, Lasarusa Tabu, Guy Graham, Perry Singleton, Ryan King, Lucas Castle, Josh Rourke, Daniel Spencer-Tonks, Oscar Doran, Ross Ainley.
Widnes have Shane Grady, Ant Walker and Ryan Millar all back in the mix ahead of Sunday’s clash at the LEL Arena.
Their squad is: Jack Owen, Ryan Ince, Matt Fleming, Kieran Dixon, Tom Gilmore, Owen Farnworth, Matty Fozard, Sam Wilde, Adam Lawton, Jordan Johnstone, Shany Grady, Joe Lyons, Olly Davies, Joe Edge, Lewis Hatton, Aaron Brown, Brad Holroyd, Max Roberts, Ant Walker, Ryan Miller, Zack Eckersley.
