Typically one of the UK’s rainiest regions, Cumbria has been enjoying a warm spell – and it’s set to continue with more hot and humid weather
The Met Office has predicted high temperatures reaching up to 28 degrees throughout this week with only some light rain looming on the horizon
The weather forecaster said today will be largely dry with long periods of warm sunshine reaching up to the 28 degree mark. Some thundery rain showers may start in the afternoon, but the sunny dry weather will return.
This evening will see settled weather with mostly clear skies and some isolated patches of mist making for another very warm and humid night. Temperatures will reach a minimum of 14 degrees.
On Wednesday an early morning mist will be quickly replaced with strong summer sunshine and rising temperatures with a maximum temperature of 27 degrees. The Met Office said this will feel ‘slightly more comfortable’ than recent days.
Over Thursday and Friday, the weather will be mostly settled and dry with long periods of warm sunshine. Saturday will also be dry and warm, but a little hazier.
Sunday through to Monday currently sees light rain and cloud currently predicted, with temperatures still reaching highs of 23 degrees and sunny intervals set for Monday.
Pollen levels are also predicted to be very high all week as it is peak season for grass, nettle, dock and plantain pollen.
Are we due any more thunderstorms?
The Met Office has not issued any further weather warnings for thunderstorms in Cumbria just yet, but there is a chance of thundery showers.
The long range weather forecast covering Saturday 17 June to Monday 26 June predicts more hot weather – described as warmer than average that is set to be dry and not humid.
Some rain showers and thunderstorms have also been listed as possible.
Cooler weather is set to arrive from Tuesday 27 June to Tuesday 11 July for the North West of England, bringing a greater chance of rain with hot spells and high temperatures still possible.
