
Eight fire crews have been called out to tackle a blaze on land in north Cumbria.
Carlisle East Fire Station posted on Facebook yesterday at around 5.20pm that they were at Hethersgill, north of Carlisle.
The post said: “Our crew is currently battling a reignition of a protracted incident involving wildland, near to Hethersgill.
“The fire is deep seated and involves peat and scrubland over a large area.”
Crews from Carlisle East, Carlisle West, Brampton, Longtown, Penrith, Keswick, Siloth and Appleby attended.
