Workington Town warmed to the task in the second-half against bottom side London Skolars and beat their visitors 34-6 at Derwent Park.
But at half-time the Skolars, who had not won a single point so far, would have had high hopes of breaking their duck as they were all square 6-6 with the Cumbrians.
They had actually led 6-4 before a penalty from Ceiran Walker had pulled Town level just before the half-time hooter.

Coach Anthony Murray must surely have cracked the whip during the interval as Town pulled away from the restart and were comfortable winners in the end.
At the start of the game Town had only needed only six minutes to take the lead when Walker whipped the ball away smartly from a scrum and Jordan Burns swept over in the corner for an unconverted try.
It was far from a classic contest and stayed at 4-0 until the 28th minute when substitute Ellis Roberts went over and the conversion by Alex Deery gave Skolars the lead.

A minute before the break Walker popped over a penalty to put Town level.
Whatever Murray said at half-time it had an immediate affect with Walker darting through the Skolars defence four minutes after the re-start, adding the conversion himself.

On 52 minutes Connor Terrill increased the lead when he charged over under the sticks for Walker to add the extras.
Four minutes later Burns went over for his second and Walker’s conversion made it 24-6 with the Skolars hopes visibly disappearing.

Jordan Thomson added Town’s fifth try, again improved by Walker, and with the Skolars down to 12 through a yellow card Burns swept in for his hat-trick try two minutes from the end.
