The Derwent Valley Federation have decided to launch their young bird programme on Monday with the usual pipe-opener from Flookburgh.
But the birds will be marked in the morning before being transported to the South Cumbrian airfield and liberated around 3.30pm.
The transporter will pick-up as follows: Maryport 10am, Flimby 10.30am, Workington 10.50am and 11.10am, Harrington noon to arrive at the race-point at around 2.30pm.
The decision to mark in the morning, to liberate in the afternoon, has brought criticism from fanciers who have to work on Monday.
The West Cumberland Federation, like the Derwent Valley Federation, had already postponed week-end racing because of the weather and they are planning to race on Wednesday – marking on Tuesday night.
