
To complete a memorable weekend for Workington speedway Connor Bailey won the British Under-21s final at Glasgow on Sunday afternoon.
Bailey only managed a third in his first outing but then reeled off four straight wins to make the final with 13 points.
Anders Rowe, however, had won all his five programmed starts, including the one where Bailey finished third.

But in a pulsating final, in which the places changes repeatedly, it was Bailey who came out on top with Rowe in second place. Dan Thompson was third and Dan Gilkes took fourth place.
Australian-born Bailey, who holds a British passport, rode for Glasgow last year and this season has been riding at all three levels of British speedway with Belle Vue, Redcar and Workington.

It was an entertaining meeting, with some good speedway, but there was disappointment for the other two Comets involved. Sam McGurk scored five, with two seconds and a third while Ace Pijper only managed three from a second and a third.
