Barrow went down 20-10 at home to Featherstone Rovers but it was a superb effort from the Raiders against the Championship leaders.
They had been all square at the interval, 10-10, and Rovers needed two tries in the first 15 minutes of the second-half to win the game.
Barrow certainly gave them a fright to emphasise that their League position, next to bottom is a false one and they should climb out of danger.
The high-flying visitors had exerted strong pressure from the start of the game and although Barrow initially dealt well with the attacks they were breached on seven minutes. The ball was swung wide to the left where Gareth Gale dived in at the corner for an unconverted try.
Four minutes later Barrow pegged back two points when Ryan Shaw, despite a difficult wind, put over a penalty.
Featherstone scored their second try on 19 minutes when Craig Hall found enough space in the Barrow defence to get the ball down. Mark Kheirallah landed the extras for a 10-2 lead.
But the leaders were rocked on 25 minutes when Barrow put together a really smart move to unlock the Rovers defence, switching the ball cleverly for Shaw to dive in by the corner flag.
The home crowd erupted on 33 minutes when their heroes drew level. Featherstone were caught out in defence, with a lack of numbers and when the ball was spun wide Andrew Bulman dived in for the try.
Shaw couldn’t convert in the strong wind but the sides went into the break level at 10-10.
There had been some really strong defence from Barrow in those first 40 minutes so it was a shame when Rovers got in twice after 46 and 55 minutes.
Luke Briscoe collected a high ball to go over and then Arama Hau charged over with Kheirallah improving the second.
But that was it, as far as the scoring was concerned and Barrow gave as good as they got before the final hooter.
