
The Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL has been reduced to just two matches this weekend.
Requests for postponements by clubs seem to revolve around events taking place in the county – Kendal Calling and Maryport Live.
Rugby League stalwarts from the golden era of the 1950s and 1960s will be saddened that the game has to take second place to music events.
But as one local coach said this week: “It’s no good fighting it. This is the modern generation and you just have to go along with it or lose players.”
Consequently there is one game tonight – Hensingham A v Lowca – and one tomorrow afternoon when Glasson host Cockermouth.
On paper both should be good, close contests but even in these two games, availabilities could well be the key.
