People have the chance to meet the Lake District’s mountain rescue search dogs and find out about their vital work at open day this weekend.
Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs will hold the event on Sunday from 11am to 3pm at the Kirkstone Pass top car park, opposite the inn.

There will also be an opportunity to watch the dogs as they work across the hill side and meet the team’s dogsbodies, who go out and hide in all weathers to help train the dogs.

A spokesman said: “We are a specialist team dedicated to the training, developing and deployment of search dogs within the Lake District mountains and fells to search for missing people.

“All our handlers are operational members of mountain rescue teams within the Lake District and give up their free time to go out and help lost and injured people.
“So please come a long and show your support to this dedicated team of people and dogs. Bring your family and friends to this beautiful mountain pass. We will tell you all about how we train and work with these wonderful search dogs.”
