Interesting clashes for Cumberland ARL

Three games in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL offer some interesting clashes this week.

Two of them go ahead tonight and the third is staged tomorrow with one game postponed. Hensingham didn’t have enough players to fulfil their A team fixture with Glasson.

Stand out match is tonight’s clash at Wath Brow between Hornets A and Cockermouth Titans.

Once upon a time that might have been a home gimme but the Titans are an improved side and are likely to give the Brow a good test.

Wath Brow at home will still start favourites, though, but a good Friday night crowd should have some entertaining rugby to watch.

Also playing tonight are Egremont A and Kells A at Gillfoot where a lot will depend on the strength of sides put out by the respective clubs.

Kells will be fancied to win but Egremont are capable on their day of pulling off a surprise and again, another intriguing contest is on offer.

Champions and table leaders Distington go to Maryport tomorrow and will be expected to take another step towards the League title.

But Maryport have shown good qualities this season, which have been the catalyst for a major revival at the club, and has already been rewarded with the winning of a trophy – the E Lamb and Son Amateur Cup.

Maryport had a rude awakening against Distington in their first League game of the season and will expect to take their visitors a bit closer this time.
