Drivers in Workington have been complaining of gridlock in the town as roadworks seem to be at their peak in the town.
The roadworks map from Cumberland Council shows multiple sets of traffic lights in the town.
Electricity North West is undertaking work at Newlands Gardens and Ashfield Road South, broadband supplier Fibrus is working on Cross Hill and Moss Bay Road, Church Road in Harrington plus Wordsworth View on Salterbeck.
Guard Street is also subject to temporary traffic lights thanks to Cumberland Council so its contractors can clean the gulleys.
The map says John Street is closed to traffic due to roadworks being carried out by Northern Gas Networks and a diversion is in place.
Drivers are complaining of delays in the town and one told Cumbria Crack: “That has to be a record. From my house at Stainburn to Harrington, it took 35 minutes instead of the usual seven minutes and I hit four sets of temporary traffic lights!

“Set one at Cross Hill meant I queued all the way along Park End Road, set two was on Newlands Lane, set three at the junction of Moss Bay Road and the mini roundabout at the bottom of Westfield Drive to T-junction with the main drag from Matalan to Salterbeck.
“Then set four at the bottom of Mountain View affecting everything coming from High Harrington towards Workington and also causing huge tailbacks up Moorclose Road. It was unbelievable!
“Traffic is queuing as far as the eye can see, it feels like there’s been no co-ordination at all!”
According to the road map, most of the work is due to finish tomorrow, Thursday August 24.
