
A child was injured after he fell from the cliffs in Workington.
Emergency services were called out yesterday, August 26, to Salterbeck after reports that the boy had fallen.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and the ambulance service attended the incident.
A spokesman for Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “A team of our rope rescue technicians and casualty carers departed immediately, with additional members following.
“Colleagues from the fire service were soon on scene and working alongside the ambulance service, the boy was treatedand transported to an awaiting ambulance.
“Initially he was to be transported to hospital by helicopter, so on arrival our Coastguard rescue officers established a helicopter landing site nearby for Great North Air Ambulance Service to land and the ambulance make a short transfer to it.
“Following assessment by paramedics the decision was made to transport by road.
“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery from his ordeal.”
