It’s top versus bottom in the Cumbria League’s Premier Division on Saturday as the respective title and relegation issues become clearer.
Champions and current leaders Carlisle will be strong favourites to beat bottom side Haverigg at Edenside to take a step nearer retaining their crown.
They gained another advantage last week when they beat Whitehaven while nearest rivals Furness had their game rained off.
That was a six-point swing in Carlisle’s favour to give them a 14-point lead with just three games to go.
Furness also have a home game and they, too, will expect to collect maximum points when they host Egremont, not the force they were after Indian professional Vathsal Govind returned home.
Workington, clinging on in third place, also had the disappointment of their game being abandoned last week without a ball being bowled.
They have the toughest task of the top three when they entertain Keswick at the Valentine Ground, although the start of the respective football and rugby union seasons for their fellow clubs in the town, might affect their selection.
Workington are 26 points shy of Carlisle so if the city side win the West Cumbrians are out of contention.
Cockermouth entertain Lindal Moor looking as though they will have to settle for fourth place.
The Legends were dressed in Victorian mode for the official team picture and went on to beat the club’s current youngsters by five wickets.
Other games on Saturday are: Whitehaven v Cleator; Wigton v Millom.
