A South Cumbrian school has refurbished a science laboratory, thanks to a £65,000 grant.
The Queen Katherine School, in Kendal, applied to the Wolfson Foundation for support in January and, after a rigorous selection process, it was approved in July.
The cash has allowed the school to completely replace an existing lab.
Dani Bayram, head of the science faculty, said: “This exciting development of a high specification teaching space will be a great addition to our existing laboratory facilities.
“It will allow our students to experience the very best learning environment for Science and will provide them with fantastic practical opportunities. Our A-level chemistry students in particular will benefit from the improved and up-to-date laboratory facilities; working towards building a wide repertoire of practical and investigative skills.”
Headteacher Jon Hayes said: “It is really important that students have the best possible learning environment.
“School should be an inspirational and interesting place to be so it is great that we have been able to add this new lab to our other fantastic facilities.”
