
The UK’s first parkrun around a privately-owned castle has launched this weekend – at Muncaster.
The new event began this morning and participants can walk, jog or run around a 5k course, followed by a social.
parkrun is a free event which takes place every Saturday morning at 9am and happens in more than 2,000 locations in 23 countries across six continents, with many participants travelling to tick a new route off their list, or seeking out run routes while they are on holiday.
In Cumbria, there are parkruns in Penrith, Workington, Keswick, Whinlatter, Maryport, Newby Bridge, Carlisle, Whitehaven, Aspatria, Millom, Ford Park in Ulverston, Barrow, Ambleside and Talkin Tarn, near Brampton,
People are asked to arrive at 8.45am, at the Gateway Café, Muncaster Castle ready to run at 9am.
All participants are asked to register beforehand at www.parkrun.org.uk/register
