Whitehaven can be proud – its first Pride took place this weekend and a good time was had by all.
Pride by the Harbourside saw dozens of stalls, entertainment, fairground rides and food vendors gather to celebrate diversity in all its forms.
It was organised by Proud and Diverse Cumbria, and began with a parade, led by town crier Marc Goodwin and the Queen – otherwise known as Billie Raymond – and musicians from Drum Nation – and the fun never stopped.
Organisers made sure the event was truly inclusive – and that included an interpreter from Cumbria Deaf Association for the deaf and the hearing impaired on stage while acts were performing.
The event had a tough act to follow – just a week after Whitehaven Alive! – but it stepped up in style and created a relaxed, festival atmosphere on the harbourside.
Cumbria Crack spent the day at Pride by the Harbourside, and here are a selection of our photos, taken by Mark Regan. Did we get you?
