Cleator Moor Celtic continued their climb up the West Lancashire League table with a 2-1 home win over Turton.
It wasn’t the most convincing of victories but it kept Celtic’s unbeaten run going to four games now.
They had taken the lead four minutes from half-time through Adam Smith but were pegged back on 56 minutes by Turton’s Sam Hulme.
They then had to wait until the 87th minute for the winner by Leigh Dunn. Celtic manager Dene White said: “Every game is about getting points, preferably three and we got that without playing particularly well.
“Personally I’ll take points over performance every week. Having said that we have a talented group of lads and I know they will have wanted to put on a performance, but that will come.
“It was a challenge and the lads rose to it and I know everyone was delighted to see young Leigh Dunn score the winner.
“We’ve three must-win games coming up now, starting at home on Saturday against Thornton-Cleveleys, who are third in the table.”
