Managers can sense when there have been good vibes at training or in a pre-match dressing room.
It isn’t as guarantee of success by any means, but can often be an indication that a team is pulling together in a way the manager wants.
Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson has been referring to this in his latest message on the club’s official website.
The Blues have gone three games unbeaten with a home win and two away draws.
Simpson revealed: “We had a conversation last Tuesday where I said that everybody has to start stepping up.
“By that I meant players and staff, we’ve all got to do a bit more. I always believe you can only give 100 per cent, but I’m not sure we’re 100 per cent professional in the way we’ve gone about it.
“So I challenged the players, let’s step it up now and make demands on each other. Training off the back of that was really good, there was a good noise.
“You can tell by the noise in the changing room before the game on Saturday, it had a good feeling about it and I think the performance reflected that.
“Now we’ve got to keep going, keep plugging away, working as hard as we can, giving everything every single day, and if we do that we take whatever comes.”
United are back at Brunton Park on Saturday with a big game to savour against Derby County.
