Two men have appeared in court accused of sneaking into a staff area at a Carlisle McDonald’s restaurant and stealing items including phones, clothing and bags containing school text books.
Liam Paul Fletcher, 40, and Robert Fullard, 34, are alleged to have jointly committed two crimes.
One charge they face alleges burglary and that they entered McDonald’s on London Road as trespassers before stealing almost 24 separate items on May 24 last year.
These belongings were outlined in full as the charges were read at Carlisle Crown Court this morning.
The men are alleged to have stolen a wallet, seven bank cards, £30 cash, a driving licence, four mobile phones, three bags — including two containing school and revision text books — a calculator, lunch box, shirt, jumper, phone case, earphones, AirPods, Hugo Boss T-shirt, a pair of Montirex trousers and Nike trainers.
Fletcher and Fullard also face a second charge. This alleges fraud by representation and the use of one bank card in a bid to obtain goods from a staff member at the Esso filling station on the city’s Wigton Road on May 24.
The men appeared separately in court during a hearing in front of Recorder Peter Horgan today.
Fletcher and Fullard pleaded not guilty to all charges when they were put to them by a court clerk.
The pair are now due to stand trial in front of a jury at the crown court. This is due to start in the week of February 19 next year.
In the meantime, Fletcher, whose address was given as HMP Preston, was remanded in custody while Fullard, of St James Court, Whitehaven, has been granted bail.
