Flimby Homing Society held the first of the winter series of pigeon shows at the village’s social club.
It was a class of old cocks and attracted 79 entries which were judged by Luke Pearson.
Varty, son and grandson – Jimmy, James and Matthew – took first and for good measure also picked up fourth place.
Two Workington lofts of Williams and Hadfield and the McLuckie brothers also went home with two tickets apiece.
The result was: 1, 4, Varty, son and grandson; 2, Rushforth and Hunter; 3, 8, Williams and Hadfield; 5, Tinnion and McGarr; 6, 7, McLuckie bros.
Next Wednesday’s show is for old hens, judging at 7.30pm.
Workington Victoria FC will join the action on Friday when they start their winter shows in the Union Jack Club with old cocks (judging 7.30pm).
