A heavy rain and snow melt warning has been issued for Cumbria.
The Met Office said persistent rain will begin this evening and will turn heavier overnight, and then again during Thursday afternoon, easing in the evening.
Snow melt from the fells is also expected to boost river flow and a few places might see drainage affected by recent snow ploughing, all increasing the possibility of flooding.

The forecaster added that people should check road conditions if driving or bus or train timetables and to amend travel plans if necessary.
What to Expect
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible
- Spray and flooding on roads and perhaps railways probably making journey times longer
