Sam McGurk, Workington Comets’ first signing ahead of their return to the Championship, is also going to be riding in the National Development League.
Edinburgh have made 17-year-old McGurk the first signing for their Monarchs Academy team in the NDL.
As well as Workington, McGurk had previously raced for Belle Vue in the NDL and is looking forward to stepping up to Championship level with the Comets next season.
He said: “I thought it would help my progress to have a home track that was the opposite of Workington. Edinburgh fits that bill and the management and staff all seemed very professional and welcoming when I’ve been there before.
“I’m excited to meet the team, the fans and get some practice laps in ready for 2024. I hope that I progress well during the season and become a valuable team member by helping bring the silverware back to Armadale.”
Meanwhile Ace Pijper, who was also a member of the Comets NDL side, is among three riders who are returning to Glasgow to ride for the Tigers in the Championship.
Glasgow will defend the Cab Direct Championship with a trio of riders who helped them to glory in this year’s Grand Final against Poole.
Inspirational skipper Chris Harris along with Lee Complin and youngster Pijper, who all played key roles in the play-off campaign, return to Ashfield in 2024.
The Tigers have also recruited Steve Worrall from their opponents in the decider, with Leon Flint making the switch from Berwick.
Paul Starke returns for a second spell with the club after racing for Plymouth and Birmingham in 2023 – and those were also the Championship clubs for James Pearson this year as the Australian youngster also heads north for the new campaign.
GLASGOW 2024 (Subject to approval): Chris Harris, Steve Worrall, Leon Flint, James Pearson, Paul Starke, Lee Complin, Ace Pijper.
